National Food Technology Research Centre (NFTRC) was on Tuesday amongst Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) departments and parastatals that accompanied Minister of Agriculture to a Kgotla meeting in Ramotswa.

Minister Patrick Pule Ralotsia said the purpose of the meeting was to inform Balete about changes in the ministry and for them to share their concerns with him.

Mr Ralotsia said the long awaited agro-processing plant in Selebi Phikwe, owned by NAPRO, a commercial company of NFTRC is nearing completion as testing of the equipment and products is ongoing.

He encouraged residents to utilise NFTRC services, and start food processing businesses, adding that days are gone where melons used to be fed to donkeys as NFTRC can train people to transformed them into products such as jam or juice.

Mr Ralotsia applauded all his ministry’s departments and parastatals that graced the meeting, adding that it was prudent for those institutions to answer questions directed to them and to sensitise people about their services and products in Kgotla meetings.

Multitudes who graced the meeting thronged the NFTRC stall as they were fascinated by the products on display.
