New employees are not inducted on QMS

National Food Technology Research Centre (NFTRC) has decided on Quality Management System (QMS) as a way of life and ‘old’ staff members have been equipped appropriately.

Having observed the influx of new employees in the recent past, the Weekly Bulletin wondered if they had been taken on board with regards to QMS.

To get answers the Weekly Bulletin had an interview with the acting Head of Human Resources, Ms Tebogo Leu to clarify whether the new employees are indeed introduced to QMS as part of their induction or not.

Ms Leu said QMS is not included in the newly introduced system of induction, where there is a compiled summary of each department’s mandate and activities, and the induction  is wholly done by HR.

She said the appropriate Head of Department of each employee is responsible for ensuring that her or his subordinates are inducted on QMS at departmental level.

She said a decision would be taken in future as to how new employees would be trained on QMS.

Ms Leu however said new employees are given an overview of QMS during induction.

She said efforts are on to engage a QMS Coordinator who would be expected to assist on a way forward.

Ms Leu said QMS is critical and it would be beneficial to take everyone on board.
