Applications
are invited for the above position within the
Research & Development Division.
Main
purpose of the job:
To initiate, plan and direct research and
development in a specialized area, including the
design, formulation and testing of food products,
materials, processes and procedures to:
-
Promote
the development of a domestic food processing
industry.

Maximize
the utilization of available food productions
-
Optimize
nutritional values of food products with
particular reference to the nutritional needs of
vulnerable groups
-
Transfer
appropriate technology in food processing for
commercial and domestic application

Requirements:
1. 1
Principal Research Scientist
PhD degree
in Food Biochemistry or related field scientific and
technological field is required. The applicant must
have a minimum of 5 years post qualification
experience in Food Biochemist, applied laboratory
sciences and technology testing.
Two [2] of the years experience should have been
spent operating at the level of Senior Food
Biochemist or equivalent position, preferably in the
food industry or research.
1.2 Senior
Research Scientist
An MSc
degree in Food Biochemistry or related science and
technology field is required.
The applicant must have at least 3 years post
qualification experience in Food Biochemistry,
applied laboratory sciences and technology testing.
Competences
A
demonstrated record of achievement in biochemistry
research and educational programmes and a strong
knowledge of the design and analysis of both
qualitative and quantitative data is also required
for both positions. Critical and
analytical thinking is essential.
A strong knowledge of biostatics and project
management techniques is desirable.
Evidence of
the completion of research or development projects
is a requirement.

Centre (NFTRC) covering:
Visiting Scientists should have a minimum Masters
Degree in the respective areas mentioned above and
they will be involved in Research work at NFTRC for
about two years.
Preference will be given to retired experienced
Scientists.

(3) VACANCY: HR1/2008
Human Resource Office
Applications are invited for the above position
within the Corporate Services Division.
Main purpose of the job:
reporting to the Human Resource and
Administration Manager, the Human Resource
Officer will be expected to provide a wide range
of services relating to the interpretation and
implementation of human resource policies,
manuals and guidelines governing the
recruitment, deployment, induction and training,
performance and rewards management, employee
relations, administration of staff welfare
schemes and the management of human resource
information systems.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management
or related field with at least 3 years post
qualification experience in a large
organization. Experience in
a knowledge based organization will be an added
advantage.
Competences
A demonstrated record of achievement in the area
of human resource management, knowledge of labor
laws and human resource information systems,
good interpersonal and communication skills,
negotiation skills and critical and analytical
thinking and the ability to work independently
with minimum supervision.
