Main function of the Department

A. To assist in the development and growth of the food industry in Botswana through the transfer of food technologies thereby ensuring import substitution, economic diversification and employment creation.
B. To contribute to the improvement of the food safety and quality systems in Botswana through training and advisory services.
C. To conduct periodic needs and impact assessment studies that inform the Institution’s overall Research and Development Excellence in order to provide relevant and up-to-date services.
D. To participate in the provision of effective marketing of NFTRC technologies for commercialization through the attendance of exhibitions, fairs and collaboration with relevant stakeholders and offer advisory services.
