2010-03-29 - CANCELLATION OF THE NFTRC, OPEN DAY

It is with deep regret that the National Food Technology Centre has to announce the cancellation of its Open Day which was scheduled for tomorrow (Friday March 26th 2010) due to circumstances beyond our control.

The Centre regrets any inconvenience that this cancellation may cause.

2010-03-19 - NFTRC Open day - 26th March 2010

The National Food Technology Research Centre in Kanye will host its second Open Day on Friday March 26, 2010 under the theme: "DELIVERING FOOD TECHNOLOGIES FOR A PRODUCTIVE AND INNOVATIVE NATION". You will have an opportunity to familiarise yourself with NFTRC, interact with staff and ask questions relating to food packaging, safety and technologies that are available for commercialisation

2010-02-05 - National Meat workshop 2009 Retrospect

The NFTRC in collaboration with Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA)hosted a two-day National Meat Workshop from the 17th to 18th November 2009. This workshop brought together many stakeholders of the meat industry in the country, including farmers, meat processors, livestock traders, national policy makers, financiers as well as experts in various associated fields. The event also featured some experts from abroad, South Africa in particular. The two day workshop was highly successful with more than 100 attendants on each of the two days. The second day of the workshop featured group discussion sessions which concentrated on brainstorming on the strengths and opportunities associated with the industry while also identifying the associated challenges and making for interventions to mitigate the challenges. The National Food Technology Research Centre (NFTRC) in collaboration with Botswana College of Agriculture will host a two-day National Meat Workshop from the 17th to 18th November 2009. This workshop targets everyone interested in meat production, processing and marketing in the country including farmers, meat processors, livestock traders, national policy makers and many other stakeholders. The event will feature national as well as international experts in topics covering the broad spectrum of the meat industry extending from government policies, legislation, standards, animal production, processing, scientific research support, marketing, financial support as well as entrepreneurship challenges. It is expected that the workshop will provide its attendants and the industry stakeholders in general, with information, recommendations, ideas and networks that will be an important launching pad for the local meat industry.
